I came across this and well lets just say that i would sooo like to hear peoples comments
COULD IT BE? That he is content because he is getting loads of money elsewhere??
discuss......!
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni (Of Uganda) has persistently opposed a pay rise for himself, Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi has said. Nsibambi yesterday said there have been suggestions to the President to have his salary raised considering its insufficient state but the President has turned it down. He said the President takes home Uganda shillings 3.6m, which is about kenya shs 144,000 besides other Presidential emolument and added that when the country’s envelope improves, the review could be considered.
Any increment, however, would bring President Museveni's salary closer to that of his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Kikwete, who earns an equivalent of UgShs6 million but far short of Kenya's Mwai Kibaki's Ksh2 million (UgShs50 million).By the way, what Museveni earns is much less than even what former President Moi earns in retirement by like 10 times or so...

Haiya!!! What a gud guy he is! Our Kenyan mps earns 3 times what he earns!...This shuld show our mps that greediness aint got u anywhere. He knows the plight of his people. If all leaders were like him, esp. here in Kenya, we culd ve bn somewhere...competing with large economies like SA.
This would stir up our politicians!! POLITICS in Latin means..'POLI' means 'MANY' and 'TICS' means 'BLOOD SUCKING CREATURES'...if u r considering to b a politician think twice!
It's a smart move. The money has little impact on his person and an increment at this time would send a wrong signal to the people of Uganda. (I hate to add that it is likely that Kenyan leaders would happily grab their increment, regardless of the performance of the economy)
Truth b told, his earning that kind of money is quite low 4 a prezzo but judgin from his lifestyle as am told by my sis in UG, he must be gettin some chums elsewhere. Kabisa!
U dont hv 2 be literate 2 tell. N his low salary is just a 'polite' gesture of showing peeps that he really cares about others plight (true or not) n thats why he says he wants the increment after things get better in the country.
But b4 he gets the increase, let him first deal with the power probs the ugandans r currently experiencing.
The Kenyan condition eeeh the Kenyan sickness is notwithstanding thing is...I kindda agree with Unyc these guy onli tun'd down the dough as a publicity stunt or popularity boost or smthng. The guy isn't losing anything!..neither is he sacrificing for his country. The guy has a myriad of otha places wea he gets chums...So people, PEOPLE! don be foold!
Am not justifying huge perks that our government officials earn but I got to say I think Nairobi is an expensive city to live in than our neighboring countries' cities. What bothers me is that our MPs will not feel the flimsiest of guilt to increase their pay further. I dont know why the international community traduced Museveni about some none issues when he is such a tranparent leader. Long Live Museveni.
