Hey peeps, World AIDS day is tomorrow....and well, its that time of the year when we reflect on this scourge that seems to have refused to "just go away"...i came across a few stuff i thought i would share and put on the blog- Within the next 25 years, AIDS is set to join heart disease and stroke as the top three causes of death worldwide, with estimates that at least 117 million people will die from the disease by 2030, according to a study published this week.
.....According to current estimates, HIV is set to infect 90 million people in Africa, resulting in a minimum estimate of 18 million orphans.
.....The saddest part to all this is that In Africa, 6,600 PEOPLE DIE OF HIV/AIDS. . . EVERY DAY. Think about that. . . 3,000 people died in the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. More than twice that many people will die in Africa today. . . and tomorrow. . . and the day after tomorrow, etc.

--Or put it this way. Every single day, more people die of HIV/AIDS in Africa than the total number of U.S. soldiers lost in the Iraq war. And every week, more people die of HIV/AIDS globally than the 58,000 U.S. soldiers lost in Vietnam. That's staggering. And that's just the fatalities. 15 million children worldwide have lost a parent to AIDS.
........All is not lost though- according to a report released early this week, Kenya is said to be among a handful of countries which recorded a dramatic decline in Aids infections this year.
...With all that in mind, i have been keenly watching a silent debate that has been going on this week in Kenya...Apparently, now its not only the catholic church that is against condom use campaign. Various religious groups including Islam and the Anglican church are now joining the debate. Early this week, they are rallied together in calling for stoppage to the Govenrment's initiative of advertising and distribution of free condoms in public places. They say this is promoting promiscuity among people. Oh by the way, condom importation is now tax free in kenya.....
....Now heres my arguement- we have to accept one thing whether we like it or not- PEOPLE ARE HAVING SEX DAY IN DAY OUT ......How many times have you read in the papers of teenagers as young as 10 getting pregnant ( and not as a result of rape)......How many grown men and women out there do you know of- be it friends, who are having sex left right and centre? Closer home, how many of you can actually say honestly in your heart and out here in public, that you are abstaining and are proud to shout it out? How many of you are still virgins- both men and women? When was the last time you had sex and did you protect your self? How many of our close friends and relatives have died of AIDS related cases? .....These are just but a few of the questions that run on my mind when i think of what these religious groups are advocating for............Come on, we cant deny the fact that people are having sex, hence the need to support the govenrment in its bid to offer more free condoms at all public places....Its the only way we can reduce the spread of AIDS( after abstaining, which you and me know is the least in many people's minds...)
....Condoms may not be a 100% that we accept, BUT its a sure way to act as safe measure rather than leave people to have sex without protection....
.....Nway REMEMBER A- abstain, B- be faithful, C- use a condom..........as we mark this day, do your self a favour and for God's sake- ABSTAIN ABSTAIN ABSTAIN......and i repeat, if you can't, PROTECT YOUR SELF and use a CONDOM CONDOM CONDOM........its better than "having sex live live"( you know what i mean)
Vinnie.....be safe PLEASE I BEG SERIOUSLY, PLEASE BE SAFE AIDS IS REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every year since 2001 I mark World AIDS Day by taking a HIV test. I would encourage you to do the same....

Well.....talking about condoms.....there's some good news on that:German Wang Spray is Instant Condom: From Liquid Rubber To Sweet Love in One Second
A German firm has developed a spray-on condom for all your lifestyle needs. The liquid condom comes in an aerosol can that you spray onto the organ in question. A few seconds later, the liquid solidifies into the familiar latex and forms a tight seal. The company says it's a great time saver and is easier to use than traditional condoms. It's still in the testing phase (in fact, they're looking for volunteers right now) so it might be a while before it hits the neighborhood drug store. Now there's no "but I hate putting it on" excuses. And anything that promotes safety and responsibility is A-OK in our books (usually).

Hei breakfast crew, thats cool message. right message at the right time. but the thing is It always depend on the individual, why should you risk when you know pretty well that condoms are not 100% safe? cant someone just abstain or get married and be faithful? someone who choses the third option of using condoms, is someone who is not serious with his/her life, and favors presure than life. Guys, please, be safe be faithful and abstain.
Im here in usa, bt the embassy cant let my wife here on immigrant visa or atleast a visit visa for a short time, until the whole petion stuff is threough which they claim might take a year or so. is this not a way of encouraging unfaithfulness when they separate married couples? Talking of embassys, i think they should change their visa issueing policies especially on legal immigrants, because its really painful to be separated from your wife without a sensible reason. its cool to be here, bt its really painful especially when you are committed to someone legally married to you, bt they cant let her join you. that hurts. hei, would you check on my blog www.trizaq.blogspot.com clik on patriot post, and tell raila to read it? im mad at this politician. zaq

i must say when i came in this morning to work, the first thing i did was to read the messages you guys have left on WORLD AIDS DAY..you guys are the coolest- wonderfull positive messages..keep it up and ohh lets do what stackostiffs says EVERY YEAR ON WORLD AIDS DAY, GO GET A HIV TEST, AND DONT DO IT ALONE, ENCOURAGE A FRIEND...BE PROUD OF YOUR STATUS....and continue abstaining...remember- its up to you and me to stop this enemy.....

I will proudly tell you i have abstained for quite some time now and am PROUD TO PUBLICLY SAY THAT....why should i risk my life just for some pleasure that wont even take an hour or so?

Gone are the days when we- especially men, would go around telling or rather lying to people of how many gals we have been having sex with and thinking every one is doing it, yet we are the ones who are putting our lives in danger???....be proud of who you are...and if you are infected, remember LIFE DOESNT STOP THERE...

Thank God that we are still safe and well and living and that we have taken good care of our selves....say a prayer too for those who are infected/ or affected that God may give them the strength.....

Vinnie....

hey everyone, I remember the first time it really hit me AIDS happens to everyone and not just "those" people was when my friend lost his sister and I lost a neighbour...
It's sad that losing people you've known for years closely is the only the reality of it all sinks in.
May they rest in peace and remind us all to take care.

I am a HIV AIDS peer educator... and I wanna say that people still have a lot of misconceptions about the disease and condom use and stuff like that... so if you guys can enlighten your friends at every oppourtunity, it would do a lot!
